![]() Either destroyers or warships are fun to fly because they have enough staying power to allow the captain to fly into a shit storm lay some mean and nasty death to the enemies whilst not having to constantly scream at the engineers for power to the structural integrity! In general I absolutely prefer the warship configuration but the Veteran ships are pretty badass when upgraded to fleet level. ![]() These ships are available to players that have paid subscriptions long enough to get 1000 Veteran vouchers or to lifetime subscribers. The Veteran ships have the advantage of being upgraded to fleet grade. Those are destroyers but they have that tactical mode that gives the ship a little more punch and maneuvering at the expense of some staying power. I also had a lot of fun flying the Veteran Reward Chimera and the T6 variant the Manticore. Later on they brought in a T6 version the Chel Boalg and the Admiral managed to tear up the Top Gun to near record heights. It was a hard hitting heavy escort and the Admiral loves that layout. Way back when I got my first Breen Chel Grett from Q at the winter event in what, 2012? 2013? Long time back, I fell in love with that ship. Since the typical range of turning runs from 11-14 for warships and 13-15 for destroyers I feel the beefier hull is worth the slightly lower turn rate. One leans towards a tactical cruiser the other towards an engineering escort. Destroyers tend to have a tad less hull than the warships but often a smidgen better handling. ![]() Warships tend to have cruiser shield modifiers of 1.0 versus destroyers with a more escort like 0.90. Destroyers have a more escort layout typically 4/3 or rarely 5/2 and the experimental slot. ![]() The warships tend to have eight weapons bays usually split 4/4 but sometimes 5/3. Did you know there is a difference between them that is pretty consistent throughout the game? Destroyers and Warships are spread out among the various factions as ships with a little bit of a blend between a cruiser and an escort. ![]()
